Fly-out and Building Fire
December 7, 2007
At 19:48 hours Rescue 29, Engine/Tanker 29 and
29A were alerted in Box 19-3 for an MVA with a vehicle rolled over
at the intersection of Rt. 116 (Hanover Rd.) and Honda Rd. Units all
responded within in three minutes. Units arrived to find two
vehicles off the roadway with one sustaining moderate front-end
damage and the other rolling over several times. Engine/Tanker 29
was assigned to the Landing Zone at Mar-Bar Tire while Rescue 29
assisted with pt. removal and care. 29A transported its pt. to the
LZ to the awaiting Stat MedEvac. Rescue 29 cleared around 20:25 and
all other units cleared a short time later.
Later in the evening at 22:27 hours Quint 29 was
alerted in Box 12 to 301 Pleasant St. in Abbottstown at BLH
Industries as second aerial to the scene of a 2-alarm industrial
building fire. Quint 29 responded within one minute. Upon arrival on
scene Quint 29 set up on the AD corner. The stick was put in service
and began to flow the master stream. Shortly after crews were
advised to get on the roof and began ventilation. A vent hole
was cut and a trench cut was done a short time later. The master
stream was then placed back into service. Quint 29 assisted with
some overhaul and went available at 24:00 hours. Tanker 29
transferred to Co. 12 (Abbottstown).
Apartment Fire
November 23, 2007
At 13:45 hours, units were dispatched in Box 29
to 65 North St. Apt. 44 for a structure fire. Chief 29 responded
shortly after dispatch and was advised of a fire in the bedroom.
Chief 29 arrived on scene while Engine 29 and 29A responded. Chief
advised Engine 29 to pull a line upon arrival. Quint 29,
Engine/Tanker 29, Tanker 29, and Rescue 29 responded a short time
later. Before the engine's arrival on scene, the Chief and
maintenance personnel got water on the fire before the arrival of
apparatus. When the line got to the bedroom the fire was almost out.
Units performed ventilation and some overhaul, with little damage
done to the apartment. The fire started in an outlet and began to
spread up the wall. Units cleared at 14:14 hours.
Structure Fire
November 17, 2007
At around 13:59 hours 29A was alerted as 3rd due
BLS into York County in Hanover Borough at 159 Third St. for a
structure fire. After arriving on scene, 29A assisted with rehab
while an ambulance from 49 treated some patients with minor burns.
29A cleared at around 14:59 hours. Engine 13 was also on scene as RIT. Quint 29 transferred to Station 46-1 and Engine 20-1
transferred to Station 49-3.
Commercial Building Fire
November 8, 2007
Around 03:27 hours Tanker 29 was alerted on
2nd-alarm into Penn Township, York County for a building fire at 121
N. Blettner Ave. at the Cintas Corp. Shortly after Engine 29 was
dispatched to transfer to Station 49-1. Quint 29 was then alerted to
the scene a short time later. Quint 29 responded with six and sent
up on the AD corner of the building. The crew did forcible entry
then went to the roof along with the Tanker's crew. SAVES
crews assisted Penn Township's crews on the roof with opening up and
preventing further fire spread. A storage room was destroyed by the
fire. Units were available at 05:39 hours. Engine 29 responded to a
box alarm while at Station 49-1. Several units from York and Adams
Counties and Manchester, MD operated at this incident.
Small Attic Fire
October 13,2007
At 22:43 hours Co. 29 was dispatched in Box 29-1
to 608 Maple Ave. for an attic fire. Deputy 29 responded with Engine
29, Engine/Tanker 29, Quint 29 and 29A following a short time later.
Tanker 29 and Rescue responded shortly after this. Deputy 29 arrived
on scene and found a smoke condition within the household and the
attic area. Engine 29 arrived and its crew went to work. Crews
entered the attic and quickly determined that the fan in the roof
was on fire but appeared to be out. A can was used to hit a hotspot.
As the rest of the units arrived on scene, they were assigned to
ventilation and a crew was sent to the roof. Minimal damage occurred
and units were available by 23:08 hours.
No Rain Equals Brush Fires
October 9, 2007
At 17:43 hours units were alerted in box 29-1 in
the area of 3384 Centennial Rd. for a brush fire. Deputy Chief 29
responded with Brush 29 and Rescue 29 responding a short time later.
Tanker 29, Service 29, Engine 29, and 29A-1 followed behind them.
Deputy 29 arrived on scene with a working corn field fire. Brush 29
arrived on scene and pulled a booster line and forestry line. Tanker
29 supplied Brush 29 with the rescue, engine, and service's crews
assisting. Fire was brought under control in less than 15 minutes. A
spark from the tractor caused the fire. Units cleared at 18:20
hours.
Later in the evening, units
were alerted in Box 29-1 to the entrance of the Cattails on Hanover
Rd. for a mulch fire. Deputy 29 responded and arrived to find a
small mulch fire and held the box to Brush 29. Units cleared a short
time later.
Possible Structure Fire
September 30, 2007
At 18:12 hours a pre-alert was sent out in Box
29-1 to 110 Elk Dr. for a house fire with explosion. Chief 29
responded with Engine 29, Quint 29, Engine/Tanker 29, and 29A
responding within two minutes after dispatch. Rescue 29 and Tanker
29 responded a short time later. Units arrived on scene and found a
problem within the water pipe system. Box was held to Quint 29 and
Engine 29 after further investigation. Units returned at 18:31
hours. Over 30 SAVES personnel responded on this incident.
Brush Fire
September 24, 2007
At 16:27 hours units were alerted in Box 29-3 in the area of
the 1300 block of the Littlestown Rd. for an unknown fire outside.
Deputy Chief 29 responded with Engine 29, Engine/Tanker 29 and 29A
following not long after. Brush 29 and Tanker 29 responded a short
time later. Deputy 29 arrived on scene with a brush fire in a junk
yard near a tractor-trailer. Engine/Tanker 29 pulled a 1 3/4
pre-connect, while Engine 29 went to the rear and pulled a booster
line to prevent fire spread into the woods. Brush 29 pulled
its booster line upon arrival and began to wet-down. Tanker 29
supplied the Engine/Tanker. The fire was brought under control and
units returned around 17:28 hours.
Minor Vehicle Accident
September 1, 2007
At 13:12 hours units were alerted in Box 29 for a
vehicle accident involving 3 vehicles in the 400 block of Main St.
29A and Assistant 29 responded and arrived on scene to find 3
vehicles off to the side of the road. Rescue 29, Engine 29, and
Engine/Tanker 29 all responded a short time after that. Box was held
to 29A and Rescue 29 for clean-up and hazards. All units returned available
with no transports.
Vehicle Accident with Fire
August 19, 2007
Around 11:15 hours units were alerted in Box 29-1
for a vehicle accident with fire. Chief 29 responded with Engine
29,Engine/Tanker 29, and Rescue 29 following a short time later.
Chief 29 arrived on scene with a working vehicle fire. Engine/Tanker
29 arrived on scene and pulled a 1 3/4 inch line and knocked down
the fire. 29A transported to a local hospital and box was held to
Engine/Tanker 29 and fire police.
Barn Fire in Carroll County
July 24, 2007
While Quint 29 was on stand-by in Gettysburg with
Engine 20-1,
Engine 29 and Tanker 29 were alerted around 18:25 hours for a
structure fire in Carroll County Box 4-18 on Band Hall Hill Rd.
Units arrived on scene to find a working barn fire. A hay wagon had
caught fire which was near propane tanks and spread to the near-by
barn. Several units from Adams, Baltimore, Carroll and York Counties
operated at this incident. Engine/Tanker 29 transferred to York Co.
Station 49-1 and was call to the scene but cancelled while

Working Field Fire
June 24, 2007
In the early evening hours of June 24, units were
dispatched in Box 29-1 on Conewago Dr. for a field fire. Deputy 29
arrived on scene to find about 1 to 2 acres of a wheat field on
fire. Engine 29 responded first and arrived on scene pulling the
booster line. Engine/Tanker 29 and Brush 29 arrived shortly after.
Tanker 29 responded and Special Unit 14 was added as an additional
brush unit. Units operated for roughly an hour to extinguish the
blaze. An estimated 9 acres was lost. Conewago Township Police are
handling the investigation.

Minor MVA with injuries
May 15, 2007
Shortly after crews returned
from a possible structure fire in New Oxford, Co. 29 was dispatched
at 21:36 hours in Box 29-1 to the 400 block of Black Ln. for a
vehicle accident. Engine/Tanker 29 and 29A went responding along
with Deputy Chief 29 and Assistant 29, with Rescue 29 and Engine 29
following not long after. Units arrived to find a two vehicle
accident blocking the roadway. Units assisted 29A with patient care
and controlled hazards. 29A transported to a local hospital and box
was held to Engine/Tanker 29 for clean-up.
Fire
at Local Radio Station
May 14, 2007
At 06:18 hours units were alerted for a
commercial structure at 275 Radio Rd. at 98.5 The Peak and WHRV.
Chief 29 responded. Engine 29 and Quint 29 responded
simultaneously with Engine/Tanker 29 and Tanker 29 following
shortly after. Units arrived on scene and were directed to the
electrical broadcast room. It was discovered that a wire had
melted but no fire was found. Fans were set-up to remove a light
smoke condition. Units returned after smoke condition was
cleared.
Electrical scare in House
May 6, 2007
At 13:39 hours a pre-alert was sent out in
Box 29-1 to 30 Savoir Dr. for a structure fire. Engine/Tanker 29
went responding with Engine 29 following shortly. Chief 29 and
Deputy Chief 29 arrived on scene and began investigating.
Shortly after Engine/Tanker 29, Engine 29, Tanker 29, Quint 29,
and 29A arrived. The box was later held to Engine/Tanker 29
only. All other units were returned. An electrical problem was
determined to be the cause.
2 Vehicle MVA
May 3, 2007
At 16:45 hours units were
alerted for an auto accident in Box 29-1 in the 400 block Third St.
Assistant 29 arrived on scene to find a car into a parked vehicle
pushed into a telephone pole. Rescue 29 and Engine 29 went
responding with Engine/Tanker 29 following shortly thereafter. 29A
arrived on scene and transported one to a local hospital. Box was
held to Engine and Rescue for hazards. Fire police remained on scene
closing down the roadway.
Accident with rollover
March 18, 2007
At 15:55 hours units were dispatched in Box 29-1
on Mt. Pleasant Rd. for a MVA w/ entrapment. Assistant 29 and 29A
arrived on scene to find one vehicle rolled over with the occupant
out. Rescue 29, Engine 29, and Engine/Tanker 29 responded in
addition. Units were held for clean-up and 29A transported one to a
local hospital.
Backing up the Borough
March 1, 2007
At 09:46 hours Quint 29 and Engine 29 were
dispatched into Hanover Borough in Box 46-09 for a structure fire.
Quint and Engine responded and assisted Hanover Borough and Penn
Township fire departments with an auto shop garage fire. Photos

Bin Fire at RTI
February 19, 2007
Units were dispatched at 21:25 hours in Box 29-2
to Recycling Technologies Incorporated on Filbert St. for a
commercial structure fire. A fire was found in a bin to the rear of
the building. A smoke condition was found on the inside of the
structure. Quint 29 was supplied by Engine 29. Units operated until
the fire was extinguished and returned available.

Quint 29 Transfers to Gettysburg
February 12, 2007
Quint 29 was dispatched along with Engine/Tanker 27 to
transfer to Co. 1's quarters while they operated at a working
structure fire. The transfer units were dispatched for smoke in a
structure on Chambersburg St. A small electrical fire was
discovered. Units returned a short time later. Thanks to

SAVES Assists on Fire in Gettysburg
February 3rd, 2007
At 01:21 hours SAVES was alerted in Box 1 as 2nd
due aerial on a working house fire. Quint 29 responded with 6. After Quint 29 arrived on side C and
they began working. Engine 6-2
was supply. This difficult fire was brought under control about 2

Later that day at 12:17 hours, units were
dispatched in Box 29-1 to 612 Oxford Avenue for a trailer fire.
Engine 29 and Engine/Tanker 29 responded with Quint 29 and
Rescue 29 following not long after. Box was held to Engine 29
after investigation determined an electrical problem.
