At 12:36 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, Adams County dispatch struck box 29-1 for a report of a dumpster fire impinging on a commercial structure on the 200 block of O'Brien Lane in Conewago Township. While units were en route, Adams County advised that a pool-filling water truck came upon the fire and was attempting to put water on the fire. Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services quickly responded with three pieces of volunteer-staffed apparatus on the call. Engine 29 arrived and found a large roll-off dumpster fully involved in fire. Crews forced entry into the locked and gated lot, stretched a 200-foot crosslay from Engine 29, placed a ladder to the side of the dumpster, and began hitting the fire. Firefighters worked to extensively overhaul the dumpster's contents, which mainly contained cardboard and fiberglass byproducts of a former game factory. The fire was extinguished, and the box was placed in service. Hanover Area Fire & Rescue career "C" shift staff assisted Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services on the scene.
