Last week, volunteers from SAVES trained at the station to hone their skills on vehicle rescue and extrication techniques. For 3 nights crews trained on various scenarios of vehicle crashes and how to quickly and safely remove patients from vehicles for EMS crews. On day one crews reviewed the various tools carried. On day two crews reviewed the use of rescue struts and their application. On the final day crews were given various scenarios in which they each took a turn directing a rescue. Vehicle crashes make up the 3rd busiest type of call that SAVES receives. The wrecked vehicles were graciously donated by Centennial Salvage and will return there for scrap metal recycling.
